Strategy of life

Part of my job is to help organisations develop their strategies and excell in managing their people. The Japanese call it Hoshin Kanri which has been (rather bluntly) translated as Policy Deployment. Those of you who know a little bit about Japanese Management concepts are familiar with Hoshin or maybe you have a scorecard at work (which you probably try to keep green and tidy!).
But what if I wanted to apply it to my own life. Look at this slide. What is my vision in life? Its simple; I think the point of life is to live an emotionally relevant existence. I also like the joys of life but this comes next. In order to fulfill the former I have chosen (or it just happens!) to work in the Academe. I like thinking, producing knowledge, being allowed to challenge the mainstream thoughts, being able to teach and most importantly to influence. The type of Acdemy that I'm involved in is more or less influential in industrial sense. Of course I want to continue excelling in my area; become more influential. Maybe one day I will be an industrial Guru. But in order to fulfill the later I have to become rich and to live in a vibrant, international and young environment. I have completely missed out on the environment. I totally hate my working environment and hence the decision to move to a better environment which must be in a big international city such as NY or London. London is more accessible and better for various reasons. I also need to capitalise my past investments in academia; so I shall finish my PhD at Cardiff and move to London in about a year. Maybe take up a new job in LBS or a top consultancy firm. Time will be the judge of my strategy formation. Maybe I will design a personal scorecard and publish it here soon.

Village House in Shahroud!

People say if Iran is a Continent, Shahroud is a country in itself. Shahroud is really amazing; its half hour drive from both the desert and the sea!! Its right on the edge of very tall mountains, yet it is flat! The Abr (cloud) mountain is like one of the world's Seven Wonders. Its tip is always above the clouds and is densely green.
People in Shahroud speak a peculiar dialect of Perseian which is a mix of Persian and pre-Islamic Persian! Despite very good Agricultures, Bourgeoisie has strong routes in the region (maybe through trade with Russia); hence the well established middle-class.
This picture is from a village House in Shahroud which itself is a mix of desert-like Architecture and mountain-house interior design... enjoy!
